Fibreco Terminal Enhancement Project Amendment (Stormwater Design) – Public Comments Invited

January 24, 2020 – As part of its Project and Environmental Review process, the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority must determine whether the proposed amendment to the stormwater system design related to the approved Fibreco Terminal Enhancement project (PER No. 16-268-2), located in Vancouver, B.C. is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination and a decision on whether or not to approve the proposed amendment to the project, the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website.

The Proposed Project

Fibreco Export Incorporated is proposing to undertake stormwater utility works related to the Fibreco Terminal Enhancement Project that were not originally included in the approved scope of works. The proposed amended works are as follows:

  • Excavation of a 20 square metre area to a depth of approximately 2 metres
  • Installation of a 450 millimetre PVC pipe, approximately 20 metres in length
  • Installation of a new stormwater outfall along the southern boundary of the site, to discharge stormwater directly into Burrard Inlet.
  • Installation of rip rap (approximately 1 metre wide by 1 metre depth) with 150 millimetre filter rock and concrete grouting between rip rap and new outlet pipe to tie into existing armouring
