Amisk Hydroelectric Project — Participant Funding Available for Environmental Assessment

March 24, 2016—The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency is making funding available to assist the public and Indigenous groups in participating in the environmental assessment by a review panel of the proposed Amisk Hydroelectric Project in northwestern Alberta.

Funding is available for eligible individuals and groups to participate in the environmental assessment, including reviewing and providing comments on the Review Panel Terms of Reference and the Environmental Impact Statement, and preparing for and participating in the public hearing.

Funding will also assist participants in commenting on the potential conditions that would be required, if the project is allowed to proceed. Indigenous groups will also receive funding to participate in consultation activities following the submission of the Panel Report.

Applications received by May 2, 2016 will be considered. Recipients and the amount of funding allocated will be announced at a later date.

To apply for funding, email the Participant Funding Program at PFP.PAFP@ceaa-acee.gc.ca or call 1-866-582-1884. The Application Form is available on the Agency website under Participant Funding.

AHP Development Corporation is proposing to construct and operate a 330-megawatt hydroelectric facility on the Peace River, approximately 15 km upstream of Dunvegan, Alberta. The Amisk Hydroelectric Project would generate approximately 1,875 gigawatt hours of electricity per year.

To be included on the distribution list and be kept informed of the environmental assessment process, send an email address to CEAA.Amisk.ACEE@ceaa-acee.gc.ca. More information is available on the Canadian Environmental Assessment Registry, reference number 80112.
